Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Blessing

Today I am so truly thankful for so many things.
I have been blessed in so many ways.
I am thankful for the wonderful country I live in, and for all its many heroes.
I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends.  They are my greatest blessing.
I am thankful for the creatures that are put on earth for us all.
They teach us so much, unconditional love, loyalty, and understanding.
I ask that all who suffer with illness have this day free from pain.
I am thankful for all who have tables filled with food and someone to share it with.
And for those that have no family or food, Lord, I ask that You comfort them.
I am thankful for the time I had with my loved ones that have gone on to be with You.
They shall always be loved and greatly missed.
I am thankful for allowing me to have love and understanding in my heart.
It is these many blessings that make my humble life happy and fulfilled.

Amen

Lift Up Your Eyes - Clyde E. Nichols

Thursday is Thanksgiving.  I find it rather interesting that the word “Thanksgiving ” is made up of two words, “Thanks” and “giving.”  The two seem to go together.   Because we have received so much we are thankful.  And because we are thankful we give.  Let me tell you a story.

He was lost in the desert.  No doubt about it.  His car had run out of gas and he had started walking.  Hours passed as he trudged along, nothing in sight as far as eye could see but burning sand.
Now, weak from hunger and dying of thirst, he was making his way slowly on hands and knees.  Just as all hope was gone he saw a wooden structure on the horizon and with his last ounce of energy crawled toward it.

Pulling himself up beside it, he realized it was the curb of a well.  Tied to the handle of the old pump was a baking power can and in it, written with the stub of a pencil on brown wrapping paper, was a note:
“This pump is all right as of June, 1932.  I have put a new sucker washer on it and it ought to last for another five years.  But the washer dries out and has to be primed.”
“Under the white rock I have buried a bottle of water out of the sun and cork end up—DON’T DRINK IT!  Lost out here, that bottle of water will not be enough to get you to safety.  Take the bottle and pour half of the water down the pump and give it time to soak and wet the leather washer.  Then pour in the rest and pump like crazy.  You will get water.
“This well has never run dry.  Have faith.  When you are done, fill up the bottle and put it back like you found it for the next fellow.  Don’t forget to put this note back in the can and tie it to the pump.  Good luck and God bless, Desert Pete”

What would you have done with the bottle of water?
The note from Desert Pete was evidence that someone had been there before.  He was saying, “This is how the well works.”

The Bible gives us a lens through which we can see how God created us and how he wants us to live.  Listen to the words of the Master:  “Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.”

   Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Both shed  their blood  for you.

One died for your soul,

the other died for your Freedom!

Happy Thanksgiving!
